SUMMARY:Diving Deep into Artificial Intelligence: Using STEAM to Foster SEL
DESCRIPTION:STEAM (Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Arts & Mathematics) is an area where many students may not traditionally see themselves; it is crucial to design experiences that increase their self-awareness\, sense of belonging\, and self-efficacy–valuable social and emotional competencies. In this presentation\, which was previously shared during the 2023 Collaborative for Academic\, Social\, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) Annual SEL Exchange in Atlanta\, GA\, the team will share insights from teaching a short course on artificial intelligence. We found that modeling social and emotional learning for students can have a profound effect on their engagement in STEAM activities. \nPresenters: \n\nEmma Korolick\, Director of Curriculum\nDavid Selles\, Senior Director of STEAM\, Design & Educational Technology\nJeremy Taylor\, Ph.D.\, Chief Research & Evaluation Officer\n\nReserve your seat for the Lunch & Learn by Friday\, November 29th. \nLearn more about the Autonomous Robotics Deep Dive \n

SUMMARY:FastForge Hackathon
DESCRIPTION:The Possible Zone’s inaugural annual Hackathon\, FastForge\, offers Boston area high school students the chance to engage in a mini physical consumer product launch\, reflecting our 11-month post-high school Launch program. Throughout the day\, students will collaborate in teams with corporate volunteers to research\, ideate\, design\, and pitch the next hot consumer product. SUMMARY:2024 Youth Entrepreneurship Summit
DESCRIPTION:The Youth Entrepreneurship Summit on Saturday\, September 28th\, brought dozens of young people\, ages 14-18\, from across Greater Boston together to explore their entrepreneurship dreams and build their skills and leadership abilities during a fun and engaging day of hands-on learning at The Possible Zone’s Innovation Center in Jackson Square. The free event included interactive and engaging workshops\, food\, prizes\, vendors\, and keynote remarks from Kurt Faustin\, father\, entrepreneur\, coach\, success strategist\, and Founder of The Dropout Academy. \nOrganized by The Possible Zone and its partners at the chica project\, the Center for Women & Enterprise\, Love Your Magic\, and the City of Boston Office of Youth Engagement and Advancement\, the 2024 Youth Summit built off the previous successful Girls Entrepreneurship Summits in 2023 and 2022. \n“The enthusiasm we witnessed from the girls and parents who joined us\, the workshop facilitators\, and our teams led us to make the easy decision to expand the Summit and to welcome more young people from across the city–and we’re so happy we did” shared Raven Tukes\, Vice President of Partnerships at The Possible Zone. “With our committed co-organizers\, we introduced teens to the entrepreneurial mindset\, giving them space to envision their own creativity\, and to help them see how building a business means building invaluable skills—from design thinking and problem solving\, to those more technical in nature.” \nWorkshops included Monetizing Your Skills – Turning a Hobby into a Hustle; Building Your Brand; Money-Smart Entrepreneurs; Build & Connect: Mastering the Art of Networking; and Personal Reflections—affinity groups by gender. Local entrepreneurs\, include Jaleel Davis\, alumnus of The Possible Zone\, exhibited and sold their products/services.
