Shani Mensing

Before joining TPZ, Shani worked in the makerspace world for over eight years. Shani started in 2015 where she founded Mount Holyoke College’s first Makerspace and, within three years, shepherded MHC’s small provisional space to a full-fledged program with a $3.5 million investment for a 8000sqft makerspace. During this time, Shani taught hands-on project-based courses with a focus on constructing an inclusive space and fostering effective peer-to-peer mentoring. Shani is currently a Ph.D. student in Mathematics, Science, & Learning Technologies at UMass Amherst, with a focus on Makerspace Curriculum and Inclusive pedagogy. When Shani is not working, they enjoy spending time with their cat, Ryan, hanging out with friends and off-roading. Shani is gender fluid and goes by any pronouns and welcomes you to use what you feel fits.
