Fab Lab

We create in our state-of-the-art makerspace!

Making, design thinking, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) education are deeply embedded within The Possible Zone’s entrepreneurship and social enterprise programs.

In 2022, we launched our 35,000-square-foot Innovation Center in Boston’s Jackson Square neighbhorhood, which will eventually serve up to 1,000 students annually! This facility includes four makerspaces embedded in our classrooms as well as a 4,000 square-foot advanced manufacturing fabrication lab (the Fab Lab) on our lower level. The Fab Lab houses specialty 3D printers, electronics workstations, laser cutters, large-format printer/cutters, direct-to-garment printing, CNC embroidery, sewing machines, CNC milling, large-format UV printing, large-format CNC routing, a digital media studio, and a woodshop.

The Fab Lab is a resource not only for our students and staff, but as we expand our programming and staffing, it will be a resource for others in the community, too, as we host hackathons, workshops, and open studio hours. Students and staff undertake projects that include–but are not limited to–robotics, product design, apparel, game design, photography, music production, packaging, and furniture making.
