Vilma Silva
Senior Director of Recruitment & Enrollment
In her role, Vilma manages and executes all student recruitment and enrollment activities and systems, including year-round, ongoing recruitment, as well community-based and school-based recruitment efforts. Vilma migrated to the USA at 5 years old from the Cape Verde Islands. She completed her Sociology and Women’s Studies degree from the University of Connecticut then devoted 2 years of full-time volunteerism with City Year New Hampshire, tutoring and mentoring students in under-resourced classrooms in addition to planning and executing various service projects. Vilma continued her professional career working with various nonprofits, such as City Year, GEAR UP, and buildON leading regional recruitment and enrollment strategy. She wholeheartedly believes in the power of young people, especially through service, mentorship and education. Vilma is a mother to a young son, loves plants and enjoys Do-It-Yourself projects.
