31 Heath Street Building Policies and Guidelines

Insurance & Indemnification

Insurance: Prior to holding your meeting/event at 31 Heath Street, please forward a certificate of insurance (for General Liability, Auto, Workers Compensation, and Umbrella policies), naming The Possible Zone as “additional insured.” Please send the certificate of insurance Juan Carlos Ferrufino (juan-carlos@possiblezone.org) and/or Pete November (pete@possiblezone.org) at TPZ.

Please note: If your organization does not have insurance or all of the policies mentioned above, this does not mean that you cannot hold your meeting or event at 31 Heath Street. However, this will require a discussion and a case-by-case decision by TPZ.

Indemnification: This section must be completed and signed before TPZ commits to hosting a meeting or event at 31 Heath Street.

The applying organization agrees to indemnify and save The Possible Project dba The Possible Zone (TPZ) and its respective employees, agents and officers harmless from any claims, demands, suits, damages (including property damage and loss of use such property), losses, fines, penalties, costs and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees on account thereof) that are incurred by TPZ for injuries to persons or damage to property including theft and result from or arise out of the applying organization’s activities while on the premises of TPP.

Guidelines for Meetings and/or Events at 31 Heath Street

  • The organization holding the meeting/event must have at least one staff member present to run and manage the meeting/event. Two staff members are required for meetings or events with more than 20 attendees.
  • The Possible Zone will have at least one staff member present during the meeting/event, to manage the front entrance and maintain oversight of the building. The organization holding the meeting/event recognizes that this TPZ staff member has final say in how the building and its spaces may be used, and on who may be admitted to and remain in the building.
  • The organization holding the event is responsible for ordering, paying for, and serving any food and drinks and providing related items (plates, cups, utensils, napkins, etc.) for the meeting/event, and for cleaning up after the event, with all food waste and other trash deposited either in designated trash bins or in trash receptacle in the rear of 31 Heath Street.
  • Alcohol is not allowed in 31 Heath Street unless a written exception signed by TPZ’s Chief Operating Officer is provided.
  • Smoking and/or vaping is not allowed inside 31 Heath Street or on the property
  • The organization holding the meeting/event understands that to host the meeting/event at 31 Heath Street, must present to The Possible Zone, in advance of the meeting/event a certificate of insurance that names “The Possible Project dba The Possible Zone” as an additional insured.
  • The organization holding the meeting/event agrees that its staff members and all guests will abide by the policies and codes of conduct for 31 Heath Street

Policies and Code of Conduct for Use of The Innovation Center at 31 Heath Street

a. Standards of Conduct

i. TPZ Staff, tenants, guests, community partners, and students present in the Innovation Center agree to steward and treat with respect all supplies and equipment, and property of TPZ. Participants also agree to conduct themselves in a manner that does not disrupt the learning environment of TPZ or other programs operating in the building.

ii. The following behavior of will not be tolerated in the Innovation Center by any person:

    1. Foul language
    2. Threatening or harassing language or behavior;
    3. Sexually harassing or otherwise harassing another individual;
    4. Bullying or belittling language or behavior;
    5. Physical violence or threats thereof;
    6. Bringing a weapon into the facility;
    7. Using racial slurs or hate speech centered around race, ethnicity, nationality, sexuality, or religion;
    8. Viewing pornography or other inappropriate online content while in the facility or on a TPZ computer;
    9. Stealing from TPZ or a student, tenant, or guest, or engaging in other acts of dishonesty;
    10. Engaging in conduct that is dangerous to others or violates TPZ or Innovation Center safety regulations;
    11. Being under the influence of a mind-altering substance that is not a medication being used as prescribed.

iii. Statements that are dismissive of or condescending to students or the community surrounding the building are counter to TPZ’s values and will not be tolerated in the Innovation Center

iv. Violation of any of the above policies may result in immediate suspension or revocation of Innovation Center use privileges.

b. Restroom Policies – Restrooms throughout the building are labeled as adult or student bathrooms, and as gendered or all-gender bathrooms

i. Student & Adult Restrooms

    1. Students and minor guests may only use student bathrooms
    2. Staff members, adult tenants, and adult guests may only use adult bathrooms

ii. Gendered and All-Gender Restrooms – Regardless of the restroom label, it is a violation of TPZ and Building policy to question any person’s choice or use of a restroom in the building (other than student vs. adult bathrooms)

c. Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drug Policies

i. Smoking or vaping is not allowed inside the Innovation Center or on building property

ii. Illegal or unauthorized prescription drugs are not allowed inside the Innovation Center at any time

iii. Alcohol is not allowed in the Innovation Center unless TPZ has obtained a one-day license for alcohol to
be served at an event.

d. Weapons Policy – No weapons are allowed in the Innovation Center. This includes firearms, knives, martial arts weaponry, bats or sticks, or other items that a TPZ staff member, at their discretion, deems dangerous or threatening. The only exception to this rule is for law enforcement officers who enter the building while on duty.

e. Animal Policies – No animals are allowed inside the Innovation Center, with the exception of trained Service Animals. Both TPZ and individuals who bring Service Animals into the facility must adhere to Massachusetts and Federal laws related to service animals.

In line with the above policy, personal/family pets and emotional support animals are not allowed in the
facility.

f. Grievance Policy – If a building tenant or guest feels they have not been treated fairly by TPZ, or an issue related to use of or conduct in the Innovation Center has not been resolved to their satisfaction, that person may express their grievances/concerns in a formal manner.

All grievances will be handled respectfully, appropriately, timely, and professionally.
