TPZ Students In Action

Here at The Possible Zone (TPZ), we help prepare teens in Grades 10 through 12 to thrive in any future path they choose. Our students are innovators, they are problem-solvers, they are team players, and they are learners who are looking for a program where they may shine and grow. We’re here to help them bring their big ideas to life.

Here are a few recent snapshots of our students in action!

Habiba, one of TPZ’s Incubate students, is assembling plant-based, eco-friendly skincare products for her skincare startup IFUNALI, which aims to offer affordable alternatives to products with toxic chemicals. She is collaborating with fellow student, Daniella, to develop and test the products.

Ozzy modeled and displayed his acrylic and wooden glasses that he created last summer. During our Fashion Forward Showcase, students explained to families, friends, guests, and staff who packed the exhibit space how they used new technology and skills in their design processes… and they sold some of their creations!

Eboni is assembling in TPZ’s Fab Lab. Here she is melting wax seals for custom products she presented at the MIT/Cambridge Science Festival. Three TPZ students showcased and presented ways they incorporated technology into their designs, from laser cutting to neopixels at the Festival!

TPZ: Young People Shaping Their Futures

TPZ in the Business Community

The Possible Zone (TPZ) joined the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), MA District Office—linked by a common mission to help start, maintain, and expand small businesses—to sign a Strategic Alliance Memorandum (SAM) on November 9, 2022, during a lunch with local business owners. “We look forward to developing and fostering a meaningful working relationship with the SBA in order to help strengthen and expand small business development in our local communities,” Becky Levin, TPZ’s executive director, shared.

The SBA will provide TPZ with up-to-date information about its programs, services, and resource partners and will provide speakers to participate in TPZ workshops to discuss SBA financing, government contracting and other business topics for both TPZ students/Fellows and local businesses. The SAM signing took place at TPZ’s Innovation Center, during which local businesses through Three Square Main Street Jamaica Plain and other networks met with SBA and their resource partner representatives to hear how entrepreneurs and owners could access support. TPZ will host similar programs throughout the coming year.

Join Us for the Winter Term

Students can start the new year off well by exploring The Possible Zone’s fun, STEAM-infused entrepreneurship youth development program, and they may eventually launch their own business and prepare for a career.

New students from Boston Public Schools’ 10th and 11th grades will begin in the Discover program, where they can explore passions and interests then identify opportunities or problems in need of solutions. Classes meet two afternoons/week for 12 weeks, beginning January 17th.

Students receive $22 for each class they attend, access to state-of-the-art technology, Makerspace + media studio, and of course, enjoy free food and snacks. Registration ends January 11th for new students.
