Luke Matys
School-Based Site Lead
Luke Matys is a civic-minded educator and non-profit leader who believes education is most effective when it is student-led and community-based. At TPZ, Luke is a key member of the team directing the strategic launch and daily operations of new scaling sites, connecting executive strategy and ground-level implementation through the development of “kitable” instructional models. With over a decade of experience, he is an expert in designing impactful curricula and mentoring educators in partnership-driven project-based learning to foster social justice.
Originally from Worcester, MA, Luke began his career teaching middle school in New Bedford before earning his Master’s in Education from Harvard. Prior to TPZ, he managed statewide programs at Discovering Justice, where he more than tripled program participation to connect nearly 370 students with legal professionals. Beyond his work at TPZ, Luke serves as a consultant and certified observer, providing expert guidance on program quality, teacher mentorship, and student-centered instruction. He is also a founding board member of the 16 Strong Project, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth resilience through student-led initiatives.
