Imtiyaz Hossain named Alumni Representative to the Board of Directors


The Possible Zone (TPZ), an innovative, experiential youth development nonprofit where high school students prepare for life-long learning and careers of the future, is proud to announce that Imtiyaz Hossain, Associate Director and Data Sciences Lead at Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., has been named Alumni Representative to the TPZ Board of Directors.

“At The Possible Zone, we’ve created innovative learning experiences for young people through unique competency-based and career-connect learning programming that enables self-development, skill building, and future pathway planning,” said Becky Levin, TPZ Executive Director and Co-founder. “As we mark our 15th anniversary, I’m so pleased and grateful to Imtiyaz Hossain, one of our very first students, for his steadfast commitment to our mission and for generously sharing his experiences, invaluable insights, and influence as our inaugural Alumni Representative to the Board of Directors. As we scale to Gateway cities to provide enriching opportunities to hundreds more high school students across the state, his contributions to our leadership and alumni community will help deepen our impact.”

Hundreds of high school students each year, and a cohort of young adult associates immersed in entrepreneurial endeavors, thrive as they explore careers of the future, build in-demand skills, and develop essential mindsets at TPZ’s Innovation Center in Boston and at Lawrence High School. Reinforced by a network of key educational and industry partners in a supportive ecosystem, bolstered by work-based learning opportunities, and guided by TPZ college and career advisors, students carve pathways to college, vocational training, and careers.

Imtiyaz Hossain is a healthcare data science leader, educator, and mentor passionate about expanding opportunities for students in STEM. At Takeda, he has built enterprise-level AI and advanced analytics solutions that improve decision-making and patient outcomes across global medical, commercial, and digital health functions. He also finished a three-year tenure on the Board of Directors at Breakthrough Greater Boston, helping expand access to education for first-generation students. Over the course of his career, Imtiyaz has also held roles in preclinical research and boutique consulting with Boston-based hospitals and biotechs. Most recently, he served as an adjunct professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he taught courses on the business of healthcare and the applications of AI in health. Deeply committed to equity, mentorship, and youth empowerment, Imtiyaz’s journey with TPZ began in 2011 as part of its first student cohort. Following the completion of the TPZ program, he earned both his Bachelor of Science in Biology & and his Master of Public Health in Epidemiology & Biostatistics from Tufts University and Tufts University School of Medicine.
